CODING COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR

Position Summary:
Coordinates the activities of the Faculty Practice Coding and Compliance Department. Works collaboratively with the Corporate Compliance Office to perform coding reviews and functions as an objective reviewer and evaluator of coding and compliance issues. Leads and guides lower level Compliance Coordinators.

Responsibilities:
1. Ensures complete and accurate coding by conducting periodic auditing.
2. Implements a Faculty Practice Coding and Compliance Program including controls and compliance measurements consistent with corporate policies/procedures to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct.
3. Utilizes IDX and related modules to obtain, analyze and interpret coding, denial and other reimbursement data to support compliance and practice management activities.
4. Coordinates the scheduling and implementation of internal audit schedules and annual compliance work plans with the Corporate Compliance office.
5. Works collaboratively with Practice Revenue Managers of various clinical departments to ensure correlation of information on superbills with rendered clinical services. Works on most complex assignments. Makes recommendations for improvement to physician practices as necessary.
6. Works collaboratively with Faculty Practice Management to create, support, and maintain committees related to compliance activities.
7. Oversees the work of department Coders for accuracy and compliance.
8. Leads and guides lower level Coding Compliance Coordinators.
9. Performs related duties, as required.

Experience & Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Knowledge of Health Information Administration or related field, as normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Credentials in one or more of the following:
- Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS)
- Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Minimum of five (5) years related work experience including supervisory experience, required.

CODING REIMBURSEMENT MANAGER

Position Summary:
Plans, organizes and manages the staff and activities of the Coding and Compliance department for FPP. Collaborates with Health System Coding and Compliance department to perform coding reviews and function as an objective reviewer and evaluator of coding and compliance issues.

Responsibilities:
1. Implements FPP coding and compliance program including controls and compliance measurements consistent with Health System policies and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct.
2. Collaborates with Practice Revenue managers of various clinical departments to ensure correlation and accuracy of information on superbills with rendered clinical services.
3. Utilizes IDX and related modules to obtain, analyze and interpret coding, denial and other reimbursement data to support compliance and Practice Management activities.
4. Coordinates scheduling and implementation of internal audit schedules and annual compliance work plans with Coding/Compliance staff.
5. Ensures complete and accurate coding by conducting periodic reviews of documentation and coding activity. Develops and maintains department documentation review schedules, results and reporting.
6. Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports. Conducts training and education sessions on coding and regulatory updates for Coding/Compliance staff.
7. Manages the day-to-day operations and work flow of the staff including staff scheduling and assignments. Develops and maintains work logs and records.
8. Manages resources including operating budget, supplies, equipment, space, staff and information.
9. Collaborates with FPP management to create, support and maintain committees related to compliance activities.
10. Performs related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health care Administration or related field, required.
• Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible supervisory experience in medical records, coding and compliance, required.
• Credentialed in one or more of the following: Advanced Coding Specialist, Certified Coding Specialist-Physician, Certified Professional Coder, registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician, required.

PRACTICE REVENUE MANAGER

Position Summary:
Supports revenue cycle operations of clinical department by providing expertise in front-end best practice operations and serves as a liaison to the Faculty Practice Plan. Communicates revenue performance to Department and helps in identifying/implementing improvement opportunities. Supports revenue cycle functions.

Responsibilities:
1. Oversees billing and collecting of monies generated from physicians’ services.
• Compiles and analyzes statistical data on a daily and monthly basis and prepares various reports (i.e. augmentation projections, statistical and financial analysis and narratives, procedure billing, aging trial balances, total accounts receivable, total revenue).
• Reviews and recommends improvements for financial management of each billing area.
2. Manages revenue cycle management.
• Analyzes and improves the performance of front-end billing operations through development and monitoring of performance criteria.
• Educates Department and related Divisions on revenue cycle standards. Provides timely feedback of key performance indicators.
• Identifies process flow or organizational structure issues that impede financial outcomes. Proposes solutions and collaborates with Department to implement corrective action.
• Monitors department monthly revenue and financial performance and communicates results through variance reports, P & L statements and AR analysis.
• Initiates, develops and presents physician and staff training programs for better understanding of the revenue cycle process.
3. Performs fee schedule analysis.
• Analyzes the fee structure of the particular Division and provides semi-annual fee and revenue reassessment.
• Proposes fee structure revisions based on local, regional and tertiary fair market pricing assessments and opportunities for net revenue improvement.
• Supports new program development by advising on development of fee arrangements for new or special services.
4. Oversees managed care contracting.
• Analyzes current managed care contracts for the clinical department and assesses financial impact on practice. Proposes modifications and other pertinent strategies, including plan participation, as necessary.
• Analyzes billing administration of third party payment contracts to ensure correct billing, adjudication and payment processing, and result reporting. Collaborates with Managed Care Contracting department in performing audits and reviews. Proposes and/or negotiates payer contract revisions and communicates financial impact to Chair and Division Chiefs.
• Serves as a liaison to central FPP office and monitors the credentialing process and plan participation status with third party payors for new and existing physicians. Confirms appropriate profiling with IDX billing system.
5. Manages reimbursement functions.
• Analyzes payor reimbursement to ensure proper claims adjudication.
• Monitors payment denials, reductions and rejections to determine operational or coding problems.
• Initiates CPT-4 analysis, per provider, to determine shifts in services and payor mix. Ensures proper in-services on CPT-4/ICD-9 coding regulations.
• Assists in the development of charge documents (superbills, encounter forms, PDA formats), to ensure appropriate selection and reporting of services in compliance with coding protocols, AMA and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
6. Identifies and implements technologies to improve operations.
7. Performs related duties, as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management or related field, required. Master’s Degree, preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years experience in Accounting/Finance, including prior supervisory experience, required. Experience in a Faculty Practice/CBO, preferred.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle and key performance metrics. Knowledge of applicable regulatory agency standards.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize effectively. Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing, required.
